SonicFileFinder 2.2 released

SonicFileFinder is a free add-in for Visual Studio that allows a fast and convenient search for any file within every Project of the loaded Solution by entering the complete filename or just a part of it. The found file(s) can either be edited with a single keystroke or a Windows Explorer / CommandLine prompt can be opened at the file's location.

What's new?

Version 2.2 is a compatibility release for Visual Studio 2010.

Note: SonicFileFinder requires .NET Framework 3.5 to run!

  • ADDED: Support for Visual Studio 2010.

Request : Can you make this tool available for sql server 2005

we are using sql server dev edition and where we have sql server project which stores more than 6000 procedures and function.
its very anoying to search file by name manually in tree.

if u can have this feature available for sql server 2005 community will be more thankful to you.

let me know if u have any plans to do that. thanks in advance.

I am very sorry, but I can't do that. I would, if I could, but sadly the SQL Server projects do not support the Visual Studio Automation Model and I can't access anything in those projects.

Thank you for this great tool! One thing I discovered:

I have two files with the same name but located in different folders. It only finds one of them when searching.

Category1Folder
foo.aspx
Category2Folder
foo.aspx

I've used SFF for years and I'm glad to see the update for 2010!
.
One suggestion (so far): I like to doc SFF as a Tool Window and auto-hide it, but it takes up a huge amount of space while docked, since the tab says, "SonicFileFinder 2.2 (1493 files found)". I suggest removing the version number and putting the number of files found in a "status bar" on the bottom of the window.
